Who am I?

I'm a seasoned illustrator, award-winning interactive design professional and college instructor. I started my career as a freelance illustrator in the late 1980's in the San Francisco Bay Area and landed my first full-time position illustrating and animating for an educational software company. It was here where I learned the basic principles of usability and interactive design as I rose through the ranks from illustrator and animator to art director. I was trained to use a variety of multimedia, illustration and 3D applications to create engaging interactive software used by children from grades K through 12.

I've worked for a variety of multimedia companies and advertising agencies as an interactive designer, art director and have headed up design teams as creative director for both print and new media.

In 1994 I learned how to hand-code HTML and continue to design and create web sites today using the latest in web standards. I have been working in Flash since it first appeared as FutureSplash and currently create eCards, animations, and partner with ActionScript programmers to design Flash-based applications and games.

I've been an instructor in animation, illustration and interactive design for over a decade, starting at the Art Institute of Portland when they first opened in Portland. I currently serve as adjunct faculty for Clark College in Vancouver, Washington and a member of their computer development advisory committee.

I work from my studio in Southwest Washington (30 minutes outside Portland, Oregon). I'm also a husband, father of two fantastic boys, and servant to a Golden Retriever and Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix.
