- Flash Matrix - PDF format
- SWF Matrix - PDF format

- Storyboard Template - PDF format
Web Links
A few great places to find free photos...
- Image * After - Great photos and textures
- Morgue File - A public image reference
- The weirdly-named, stock.xchg - An amazing amount of high-quality free imagery
Week 4
Web Links
Below are links to articles/essays related to animation principles
- Quicktime examples from class can be found here: comet-cartoons.com
- Examples I used from Siggraph are here
- A good, basic essay on the principles of animation. A fairly easy read
- And finally, the father's of Disney Animation weigh in with more insight to these principles (which they founded)
Week 6
Web Links
Some Flash-related web links to finish out midterm week...
- A step-by-step guide to creating an ad banner in Flash. The funny part is the guide was created in 1997! It refers to Flash 2 and all the screen grabs are from that program. It's also amazing how much of Flash hasn't changed in 8 years and that the banner creation process really hasn't changed much...
- Students have asked for sites that have more Flash tutorials. Most discuss ActionScripting and we'll have a little discussion about it in the following weeks. But kirupa.com covers some basics along with more advanced concepts.
Week 7
Handout
- Final Scoresheet - PDF format
Week 8
Web Links
I've posted a short presentation explaining the formatting of ActionScript here.
Finally... check out actionscript.org for tons of demos and tutorials broken down by Flash and Flex versions and from beginner to advanced.
Week 9
Web Links
Great initial sources to find some audio tracks and sound effects. Most are free and/or royalty free but be sure to read and follow any licensing requests from the artist.
- The Open Music Archive - A source for some very old and public domain music. Great place for classic and turn-of-the-century "mood" music.
- Musopen! - Open source classical music. Free, but need an account to download your selections.
- Patners in Rhyme - Free royalty-free music. Nice, simple instrumental loops and sound efects. This is a link to some of their free stuff, but be sure to look at their music for purchase too!
- Music for Video - Excellent basic set of free music but for around 89 cents (and an iTunes account), you can also purchase higher cinematic quality tunes for production work.
Week 10
Web Links
- Full screen mode in a browser environment (requires a user to have the Flash 9 or Flash 10 player) - A good tutorial on how to activate full screen mode when viewing a Flash movie in a browser. Not for the timid.
- This site uses the same preloader I used to use (it's pretty old, mentioning Flash 5 and MX) but it has a pretty good step-by-step guide in how to create and use it. These older scripts tend to be a bit easier for the "advanced" beginner to grasp (especially if you've never coded before!).
- Another example of a preloader from Kirupa.com. I haven't used this one myself, but it seems a little more self-contained and easier to implement. As long as you're working with AS2, it should work in CS4.
