Love Bug
This was my second attempt at "roughening up" my art style by using specifically texture brushes, pencils, and real-world paint samples from Lisa Glanz’s Procreate brush set.
Again, it was a lot of fun, but I started to fall back on my shadow/highlight technique in this version, especially in the bug’s belly and back. I really like how I treated the bug's legs and wings. I kept them loose, and they have a great organic feeling.
I've used the same color palette as I did with another piece, and though it helps by minimizing and feeling overwhelmed by choices, I think I’d like to tackle another palette along the same lines. I do like the use of the oranges and greens. It'll be interesting to pick something as muted (I like the creaminess and antique nature of Lisa's particular palette) and still be successful.
Next, I might mimic Elwood Smith’s Pelikan ink pen, watercolor, and colored pencil techniques.
