It's Over for Internet Explorer 5 for the Mac
Microsoft has "End-of-Lifed" Internet Explorer 5 for the Macintosh as of Tuesday, January 31 2006.
When released in 2000, it became one of the more advanced browsers capable of rendering to the W3C standards (CSS Level 1, DOM, etc.). However, once developed, it never really received too much attention from Microsoft. When OS X grew and eventually went on to develop its own browser, the writing was pretty much on the wall for the future of IE 5 (IE 6 for Mac never saw the light of day).
