My First New Site in Over Five Years

This is the longest I've gone without a web presence. My first site was built in 1998 and updated in 2002, 2004, 2010, 2016, and 2019. Pretty much when I would rebrand my logo, I'd follow up with a new site. I could easily justify it because I love the visual design process. The first website I built was coded by hand. With future versions, I would try utilizing tools like Dreamweaver and incorporate Flash (!) but would go back to managing things by hand.

As time went on, I moved over to some of the first versions of WordPress, but they proved to be too much for my simple needs. For a time, I branched out to posting on Tumblr but kept returning to my preference of directly working with layout and content.

Finally, in 2019, I gave Kirby a shot. An interesting solution that served up content without the use of a database, I could write in Markdown and use my Mac's file system to manage the location of graphics, text, and media. I built that site from scratch, as I'd done many times prior, and that's where things languished. The pandemic was a huge factor, but I also did lots of personal soul-searching. It was only in the last year that I knew the path my site had to take, and at that point, I finally took the bull by the horns.

This is the resulting website. I hope you enjoy taking a look as much as I have enjoyed creating it!
